Consumers approach to health is different this time; it s more aggressive sophisticated and here to stay. On a hot summer day the first thing that likely comes to mind is a tall cold beverage in your hand. Unfortunately a majority of the most popular summer beverages come at a cost to your health. Chances are some of your favorite summer beverages are packed with an exorbitant amount of sugar. While the beverage may go down easily and help keep you cool in the hot summer sun enjoying your favorite summer beverage may mean sipping on hundreds of grams of excessive sugar. Now imagine drinking more than one of these beverages per day. There are plenty of summer beverages you should be avoiding to save your waistline and your overall health. Sugary Summer Beverages You Should Be Avoiding: 1. Soda. Whether you are opting for regular or diet soda you should just say no to soda this summer. Sodas contain way too much sugar or even worse -- artificial sweeteners.

When you are making home made beverage the easy process to carbonate your drink is through beverage tubing. Beverage tubing is not a hard process while huge companies have different machines and methods of carbonating their beverages you can start by your own small equipment which costs hardly even $10. This process for home made beverages is cheap and quite effective too. You just need to connect 2 bottles caps with a clear piece of tubing and screwing them tightly on the bottles one bottle will contain the beverage and the other will contain vinegar and baking soda this is used to carbonate beverages. The Co2 from the bottle containing vinegar and baking soda will then go in the beverage containing bottle thus making your beverage carbonated. It makes air or oxygen impossible to pass through it which is a good sign as oxygen or air tends to destroy the taste of foods and beverages as the properties of oxygen are such that it can stale food and beverages quickly.

Horchata or Rice and Almond Beverage My recipe for Horchata is as follows. Soak three tablespoons of rice in water for 4 hours. Rinse the rice well and drain then place in a blender with 3 tablespoons of raw unhulled sesame seed 3 inches of true cinnamon stick and 3 tablespoons of almonds either whole or soaked and peeled. The use of almonds cinnamon and sesame together in this beverage is so typical of Guatemalan flavors. This mixture is blended until all ingredients are very fine. Strain the liquid into a pitcher and add in 2 more cups of water or milk if preferred. Sweeten to taste starting with a couple of tablespoons of sugar and add as needed. In essence Horchata is a sweetened nut and seed milk similar to the touted health drinks being sold here in the US over 40 years later.
