First the recipe box or book can get lost. This is especially true after moving from one residence to the next. Also a recipe box or book can be destroyed due to fire or water. And once its gone its gone forever. But there is another method of safe-guarding your recipes for the long term: an electronic recipe keeper. And when I say "electronic recipe keeper" I am not referring to the cheap poor quality ones that you can buy for a few bucks. Those are like the personal organizers that were popular a few years back. Modern electronic recipe keepers are far superior. One major difference from the previous versions (and the main benefit over recipe boxes and books) is the ability to store a back up copy of all of your recipes online. So even if your electronic recipe keeper were to get destroyed or stolen all of your recipes would still be safe. Sure youd have to purchase a new electronic recipe keeper but youd have access to all of your beloved recipes. But having all of your recipes backed up isnt the only benefit.
In the 21st century however the trend has changed into an electronic recipe collection. And for those into healthy eating vegetarian or veganism this electronic recipe collection/swap likewise applies to them! Thats right folks the modern day computer tablet iPad or smart phone also serves as massive storage device and means of chatting with the community. Many folks enjoy typing out their favourite recipes these days and store them on their computer or electronic device (rather than printing them). I personally tend to store my recipes on my laptop these days and I take great delight in my electronic recipe collection which is continually expanding! When we got the check we also got an unexpected surprise. She brought out a large vacuum sealed plastic bag of the marinara sauce from what appeared to be directly from their food supplier. We didnt get the recipe but we sure got a large quantity of sauce to bring home. So it does pay to ask and while you may or may not get a recipe directly you never know what might happen I guess. There are of course a good number of books many articles online and numerous websites all claiming either access to or having themselves restaurant secrets and copycats recipes for many favorite American restaurants. Whew it sort of makes my head spin a bit but in order to help me achieve this quest of mine it has been worth the effort.
