Many sites are recommending the same key original sources (recipe hackers) of the imitation or copycats recipes and in my experience this is usually a good hint as a reasonable place to start. Why? There are many substitutions that you can use instead such as tofu mock bacon soy spread or olive oil and instead of eggs you could use applesauce soaked chia seeds or soaked flaxseed meal!
